Well, our journey is almost complete and I wish I could take a picture of Hannah’s Home from March First until today. The difference in the place is amazing! We have been able to paint most of the inside, prepared the outside for a fresh coat, built and roofed two additions, poured a new sidewalk and porch, ran electric lines and installed a new service and generally cleaned the place up! There was much more done, I just can’t remember them all! It will be an exciting time at the ChildReach Celebration Ball in a few weeks. We have so much to be thankful for and I look forward to celebrating it with you!
Just a personal note, read the trip update located on our website for more details about the trip. I will continue to update this blog even after I get home with prayer needs, news of whats happening, etc.
Here are some more pics for your enjoyment!
Love ya all and miss ya,
Terry

Yesterday was our Compassion day. For those of you who do not know what that means, it’s the day we get to meet the children we individually sponsor through Compassion International, a child developement program for children in risk situations. Our daughter, Fatima, is 6 years old and the sweetest thing! I will post pictures when I get the time. Suffice it to say we are blessed, truly blessed!
Today the group will be traveling to Hannah’s Home this morning to begin some work projects there. One of the goals for this week is to get the place painted and looking better than it looks right now. There is still a little major renovations to happen, but it’s getting VERY exciting!!!
Just wanted to let you know that we’re still alive and well. We’ve just had a busy couple of days, but hopefully, I’ll post alot more often now. Also, read our trip updates on the ChildReach website, click on Trip Updates on the left menu bar and select the March 24 trip to Peru! Simple as that! (Click here)
With love,
Terry

God is good! As I sit in my room tonight (after watching the Buckeye win!) I find myself reflecting on just how good He is. I think about Wilmer who just keeps going…and going…and going. He is local labor who decided to spend the night at Hannah’s Home tonight. When asked what he would do all night, he said “read my Bible.” I think about 72 year old Pancho who just comes and labors at whatever we ask him to do. I think he likes belonging and feeling useful. His wisdom is unbelievable and fun to listen to. There is John David, who aged out of Hogar de Ninos, now comes by to “give back some of what was given to me.” I have to admit, he’s one of my favorites. And I can’t forget Gabe. He was given a second chance by Dave Bargerstock. Dave has worked tirelessly to get him caught up in school. Hector, owner of Ola Grande, has come so far! He has come to our rescue in a big way with his construction knowledge. While he is not a Christian, he is definitely touched by what is going on. And some day… Yes, He is good, and on so many different levels. And then we even got to see Samaritan’s Purse distribute shoeboxes!!!
Please make your plans to be with us April 14 at Shady Hollow Country Club. I can’t wait to share with you!
Love you and miss you,
Terry

Good Morning! It’s Tuesday morning and we are getting ready to head to Hannah’s Home for another day of “construction.” John is working with primitive wiring trying to get us all the conforts of home! Yea, you’re right, a monumental task. Yesterday he got a new panel box (breaker box) installed and now has an idea of how the rest of the home is going to be wired. Brian is working on getting a corrected inventory list so we can see what is still needed and what we have enough of, at least for now.
Samaritan’s Purse, the shoebox people, came to Hogar de Ninos yesterday and handed out Christmas shoeboxes. The entire neighborhood showed up and all recieved shoeboxes filled with goodies. It was really cool to see something from this end that RiverTree, and alot of local churches, was so heavily involved in. We saw the collection, now we saw the distribution! If there was any doubt in your minds, let me tell you that collecting those shoeboxes and filling them really makes a difference to not only the kids, but the whole area as well. What a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ!
The rest of the group arrives in about 5 days, so better go…lots to do!!!
Love ya and miss ya!

Hello, everyone. As I sit here in my room at Ola Grande, I can’t help but reflect on God’s beautiful creation. Fifteen to twenty foot waves are crashing on the beach with a low rumble and ground shaking power. I have had the golden opportunity to spend some quiet time seeking the Lord, asking questions and being still while He answers. I am truly a blessed man to be where the Lord wants me, doing His Will. As we sit reflecting on the opening of Hannah’s Home, this is really a pertfect example of God’s children “taking care of the widows and orphans” and obeying James 1:22, 23 “Be doers of His Word, not hearers only.” We just had our first ever fundraising event in Kansas City with extraordinary results, and now I learn of an event happening in Fredericksburg, Virginia to benefit Hogar de Ninos and Hannah’s Home! God is empowering His people in a BIG way!!! I am humbled to be a very small part of His plan!
The missionary couple that has been staying at Hannah’s Home keeping an eye on His property have heard His call to move to the mountains to serve. As Felix and I were discussing this, he said that he and Erika will move into the home and protect it from looters while we are preparing for the opening. He said they had been praying about a home that would provide their family some much-needed separation from the 24/7 job running the orphanage while at the same time keeping them close enough to hear the tutor and guard should there be a problem. He even wants to be an intregal part of Hannah’s Home in whatever capacity we see. God is good…all the time!
I can ramble on about God’s movement here in Chilca, He is so active. But I’ll quit for now, but stay tuned! Things are just getting warmed up!!!!
Love ya all and miss you,
Terry

Well, today is Tuesday and things are very tranquil here at Ola Grande. The team should be home and it will be this weekend before the next group of “hombres” arrive. So, I’m taking some time to rest, relax and seek the Lord. I guess this is my version of a sabbatical. Ols Grande is about 20 minutes from Hannah’s Home and Hector (the owner) and I will be traveling down there this afternoon. Hector is not a Christian and the teams that have stayed here and the kids at the orphanage (he went there with us at Christmas) have had a profound effect on him. This is very exciting relational ministry and witnessing.
I am trying to post some pictures of Hannah’s Home with this update (should be an adventure). But, the team has done an awesome job. We have the block walls done - both the cafeteria AND the apartment addition! I can’t wait to show you before and after pictures at our Celebration Ball taking place on April 14th at Shady Hollow Country Club. If you haven’t recieved your invitation, please be sure to contact our office for reservations. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate, with our friends, what the Lord has done through ChildReach in the last 2 1/2 years!
Please continue to pray for ChildReach, the girls that will reside at Hannah’s Home, the kids at the orphanage, safe travel and God’s continued blessing. Also, on a personal note, pray for myself, Jeff and the staff that we will STAY in the absolute center of His Will!
Love you all and love doing ministry WITH you,
Terry
