This small town along the Gulf Coast was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005. We have partnered with a local volunteer organization that is helping the residents of D’Iberville, MS to rebuild after the storm. This project is strictly a construction project of painting, drywall installation, installing insulation, debris removal, electrical, plumbing, and roofing projects.
Transportation
Groups may drive to the project site or fly into the Gulfport/Biloxi Airport. Air and ground transportation during the week is not provided by ChildReach. You must provide your own transportation. We suggest that you bring or rent vans instead of using large buses.
Lodging
Your group will be staying at a local ministry located in D/Iberville, MS. The participants will be sleeping in large tents that have been converted into sleeping quarters for 8-10 people. Each participant will need to bring their own pillow, bedding, and possible air mattress. Some tents have twin size mattresses and/or air mattresses. Each tent is air conditioned.
