My Jesus in Peru

“Why do you want to go to Peru”, he asked. “Selfishly, I want to go because I know that if I do , I will know my Jesus better…that He wil reveal more of Himself to me and I can not get enough of Him”, I answered. He never fails. What did I see in Peru? I saw my Jesus. I saw the majesty of my King on the beach each morning as the waves crashed along the shore. I saw His love in the endless smiles and hugs from His children. I saw His mercy as Peruvian women fed the hungry in the comedor. I saw His humility in the heart of our leaders. I felt His Spirit as the body of Christ from diferent parts of the world, who spoke different languages, came together to worship the Living God. I saw His sacrifice as those who had given everything…gave more. I felt His radiance in the warmth of His people. I saw His provision in the progress at Hannah’s Hope and Home. I saw His suffering in the eyes of the needy. I saw my King in Peru and He is beautiful! ~Rebecca

today i saw the lord in a old mans eyes. We started the day off with worship on the beach across from our hostal. then we took off to hannahs home, when we arrived we started on our work on pablitos wall that he wanted us too demolish.(Pablito is hannahs home next door neighbor) as we were working on the wall and starting to tear it down i noticed something, nobody was complaining, in fact all of us were insisting on doing each others work. As we started finishing up on the wall we started digging a 3 ft deep hole and was about 11ft long and we took our break for lunch shortly after we started. Pablito was there watching us and as we started heading out we all wanted to pray over so I led the prayer over pablito and the most amzing thig happened after we closed our prayer pablito said thank you a kissed his hand and pointed it toward god. This was ther moment that i realized that im not here just for the beautiful children but to just assist everybody in this wonderful community and it almost broughts a tear out of my eye. This also made me realize that we need more volunteers in our communities and be less self-concided. As we finished up leveling out the dirt Pablito handed all of us a granada and told us to eat it and this was a very delicious fruit that we eaten. This was his gift to us for our hard work at his home.
