Spring Celebration

Grab a pen and mark your calendars now, because the 2010 Spring Celebration is one event you do NOT want to miss! This year's celebration will take place on March 6th at 7PM at Shady Hollow Country Club in Massillon, Ohio. ChildReach, with the help of DJ "E-Man" Eric Simna, will be hosting a live "Radio Show" for the evening entertainment. Prepare yourself for a night filled with great food, dancing, contests, auctions, entertainment, and, of course, music! The evening will be kicked off with Frank Sinatra's "For Once in My Life" then make its way with the billboard hits of the 40's through today. In keeping with the theme of the musc, the ChildReach Staff encourage you and your guests to join them in choosing attire to represent your favorite decade from 1940 to the present. (Dress is encouraged, but not required). Awards will be given for the most authentic attire!

Ticket costs for the Spring Celebration are $30 per person, or $50 per couple. The Best Gifts Aren’t Wrapped

As a child, were you ever so excited for something that it was all you thought about? For me, it was anticipating a family trip to Disney World so much that I dreamt about it day and night, planning in my head how glorious the castle at Magic Kingdom would be when I finally saw it in person. I knew exactly what I would say when I met Tigger, and mapped out my trip through the park down to which funnel cake stands I would go to, which was every single one.

I still do this.

On November 9^th, 2009 I knew I was going to meet Leonardo (Leo) Sebastian Reina Mazamba. Leo is a third grade student at Nuevos Amigos Christian School, and celebrity in my mind. My anticipation to meet Leo began stirring the moment I filled out my sponsorship forms on September 1^st. By the time my plane tickets were booked in late October, I had our entire meeting planned in my elaborate, unrealistic imagination.

I was going to walk into Nuevos Amigos and all the children would be at recess. Leo would be playing with his friends in the corner of the playground, dominating a game of futbol in his adorable NACS uniform. He would spot me carrying a backpack filled to the brim with gifts; then, the firework show would begin. The Heavens would part and the sky would be filled with colorful bursts as we ran to each other to hug, all bystanders parting in our path. He would talk to me and tell me how excited he was to meet me, and I would smile brightly saying the same.

I know it’s almost Christmas and life is crazy getting ready for the holidays, but it is not too early to think about joining one of our spring mission projects.  I wanted to highlight a couple of the spring projects.

Ecuador -April 2^nd-10^th- Come join us for Easter in the capital city of Quito.  What a great way to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior by loving and serving the nearly 100 children at Nuevos Amigos School.  We will be working on some light construction projects around the school, partnering with other ministries in Quito, and building relationships with the kids at the school.

Peru - March 6^th-13^th- This is a great time of the year of weather in Peru as they are finishing summer.  Please consider joining this project and help begin the push of helping us complete Hannah’s Hope orphanage in the year 2010.  We will also be hosting children ministries in the community and medical clinics during the week.
